Adrian Casas

Conductor, Violin

ADRIAN CASAS (BMus. Performance, MMus Conducting, University of Regina) is a professional violinist and conductor, the co-founder of Artime Music and the current President of the Saskatchewan Orchestral Association. Born in Mexico City, he studied at the Mexico State School of Fine Arts and then the prestigious National Conservatory of Music of Mexico (piano, voice, violin, theory and conducting). Moving to Canada in 2005, at the University of Regina Adrian completed a Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance (Eduard Minevich), a Master of Music in Conducting (Brent Ghiglione), and continues his conducting studies in the Saito method with Wayne Toews. An active teacher, performer and conductor, Adrian was previously the Assistant Conductor for the Conservatory String Orchestras (Conservatory of Performing Arts), and is currently the Music Director of the Regina Community Orchestra, as well as the Assistant Conductor at the University of Regina Orchestra.

Alison Lohans

Recorder/Cello

ALISON LOHANS (B.A. (Music) 1971, California State University Los Angeles; Postgraduate Diploma in Elementary Education 1976, University of Victoria; M.Ed. (Curriculum & Instruction) 2002, University of Regina) works as a writer and editor with 27 books to her credit. Music is one of her lifelong passions and, having started piano from the age of 5, she was reading music before she could read words. Alison taught beginning band in Regina public schools for a few years prior to starting a family, and she has been teaching recorder since 2004. Alison plays three instruments in a number of community groups including: Queen City Brass Band (cornet); three different recorder ensembles; Concertino Regina; U of R Orchestra (cello); U of R Conservatory Adult Cello Choir; and Regina Community Orchestra (cello).

Arlysse Quiring

Bassoon

ARLYSSE QUIRING is a professional bassoonist (BMus. Performance ‘09, University of Regina), voice and piano teacher, freelance writer and artist (Hummingbee Designs), and library instructor at the University of Regina.  Co-founder of the classical fusion quartet Artime, Arlysse also plays freelance with the Regina Symphony Orchestra, the University of Regina Orchestra,  the Regina Community Orchestra, and is the past-president and interim secretary of Concertino Regina.  Arlysse is also working on her BA English and enjoys gardening, reading, cooking, traveling with or without her better half, and watching old movies with Kiki, the senior tortie-calico cat and Nola, the two-year-old Russian blue cat.  She takes particular interest in pushing the musical boundaries for bassoon, exploring everything from Celtic music to Bon Jovi. She is currently working on a video series called Bite-Size Bassoon (viewable on Instagram).

Djoi Louise Mercado Anacio

Violin, Percussion

DJOI LOUISE MERCADO ANACIO is a  Business student at the University of Regina who has been studying violin since the age of 11, in the Philippines. Upon moving to Canada in 2014, Djoi immersed herself in violin studies by playing with the South Saskatchewan Youth Orchestra, the Regina Community Orchestra as Masterworks Concertmaster and soloist, the University of Regina Orchestra, Concertino Regina, and has studied extensively with Natalia Espinosa and retired Regina Symphony Orchestra Concermaster Eduard Minevich. Extremely passionate about music and performance, she now teaches violin lessons and joined the Board of Concertino Regina as Media Officer for the 2019-2020 season. While she has earned numerous awards in classical music festivals in Saskatchewan in both violin and percussion, her passion is for all genres and styles of music, as she wishes to connect with unlimited audiences, and to explore versatility of style and technique in her musical expression.
